Posted August 15, 20186 yr comment_74320 Where is everyone/anyone purchasing their internal thermometer to check the temp on the new Ortho Gel work station?
August 15, 20186 yr comment_74328 We bought a thermometer with the wire probe. We insert it into one of the gel wells and place it in the workstation.
August 16, 20186 yr comment_74345 I know of another hospital that just documents that the temperature indicator on the device was acceptable.

Digi-Sense® Traceable® Remote-Monitoring Thermocouple Thermometers with Calibration Just curious, do you (or do you plan to) do calibration of this thermometer in house, send it out to be performed, or replace the equipment when the cal expires?
August 22, 20186 yr comment_74405 Hi! We use a traceable thermometer with a probe placed in a gel card well, too. https://ca.vwr.com/store/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=4556196 We replace it when the certification expires. sandra

We also do this, we get it from Fisher. We buy a new one when it expires https://www.fishersci.com/shop/products/fisher-scientific-traceable-big-digit-type-k-thermometer/15078187#?keyword=Type-K+Digital+Thermometer+Probes+Type-K+Beaded+Probe
September 6, 20186 yr comment_74527 Replacing with the cal expires seems extremely wasteful. Although it's probably good for whoever's turn it is to get a new thermometer for their home chest freezer or what not. We have a company that comes in every six months and checks out all of our pipettes and thermometers and maintains various things like microscopes. It's quite nice.

I used to have our thermometers checked in the same way. Then I discovered that the charge for that was actually more than buying new thermometers. It does seem wasteful, but it makes better financial sense.
