Posted June 21, 20178 yr comment_70149 We were getting ready to send our pipettes out for calibration again and found out the company doesn't do them in house anymore and couldn't get us a quote. What companies do you use for pipette calibration? I'm on the west coast, so would prefer something close. Thanks!
June 22, 20178 yr comment_70156 I am on the East Coast and we had a local company that would come in at my last job. It was Bio Calibration Company out of New Jersey. My current facility we calibrate them ourselves. It is usually a slow weekend job because it takes a long time. I would prefer to send them out.
June 22, 20178 yr Author comment_70158 Thanks! We've calibrated them ourselves forever, and it is a timeconsuming pain, but I'm hoping to find someone on the west coast. Don't want to pay for travel from the east coast! LOL!
July 11, 20177 yr comment_70275 I've always calibrated my pipets using gravimetric method (water weight). Never had a problem with inspections - even FDA. Not very time consuming and very inexpensive.
July 11, 20177 yr comment_70284 We have always done our own calibrations. We use the PCS 2 system that is shared between our sister hospitals. It's cheap and easy to use.
July 12, 20177 yr comment_70289 We also use the gravimetric method. We have never had a problem with state or CAP inspections either.
July 14, 20177 yr comment_70310 The entire lab department has an Artel PCS system - same as jayinsat. Easy, cheap, nice software, good printouts. Takes us about 1 hour to do all our pipettes annually. http://www.artel-usa.com/
January 5, 20187 yr comment_72015 I question what we do at our facility. We send out pipettes for calibration and then have to recheck them once they come back. We don't use as many points to check as they do to calibrate. The recheck doesn't seem necessary.

If you get a certificate of calibration there is no need to confirm.
