LAB HUMOR.pdf

Just wanted to lighten things up a bit.  I can relate to a lot of these...especially aliquoting leftovers for my lunch!

I have absolutely never, ever wanted a doctors job and I desperately wish most of them didn't have it either!!!

Thank you Mari. Regarding #47, it is first on my list of blood bank skills that will be useless in my retirement (coming within the year I might add): being able to reach into a sleeve of 12 x 75 tubes and grabbing exactly 12 more times than not (and also knowing you've got one too many or too few).

There are a few missing

- Putting red bull tins in the ultra deep freeze to rapidly chill them

- Using dry ice to make ice cream

- 'percussive maintenence'

Or answering the phone by holding the bar code scanner to your ear !

Thank you for that. I am going to save it for Lab Week next year.

It's not exactly a lab issue, but have you ever dialed a phone number on your computer keyboard (or desk calculator) instead?

Hmmm, there is a mechanism, the same one by which a 4-channel lab timer might end up in your kitchen.....

Dr. Pepper, I cracked myself up the first time I dialed a phone number with my computer keyboard.

Me too, the first time. Now I just sigh and call myself a bleeping idiot.

Done that many times Terri!

comment_60346

Yup, done that too! I also say "negative" to answer questions sometimes then say "no pun intended". No one gets that except other Blood Bankers

One very busy day in the Blood Bank, OR called and i answered "Transfusion Reaction, May I help You?"  They laughed....said, "well, it might be; but I hope not." :o
