  1. My bad! I should have typed (1 to 2048) I was referring to the titres 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 and 2048.
  2. Our cold agglutinin titre is set up with the dilutions.
  3. It made our IT security people happy and they allowed the high speed connections. We have several companies that have signed them. Beckman, Siemens etc.
  4. Just have your legal department draw up a privacy/security agreement for Immucor to sign.
  5. We have 5 Echos interfaced to Meditech 5.57.
  6. "I know some folks have computer systems where the "label verify" is actually built into the aliquot/modify/pool routines, but unfortunately ours does not offer that feature (Meditech)." Could you create a CDS and add it to the final product as a Unit Screen? When you make the component you would have to answer it as a query.

  8. Does anyone have this analyzer? How is it interfaced to your LIS? Thank-you. David
  9. It would be a lot of work to set up and maintain for a very low return. After you enter the reactions it would list all possible antibodies and you still must do the rule in/outs.
  10. Does anyone have experience in the set up for scanning the ISBT special testing barcode into Meditech. We are version 5.5.7. Thank-you.

  12. https://www.meditech.com/kb/Custform.ASP?urn=2719 More information on Emergency Issue in Meditech.
  13. On page 1 of the Blood Type dictionary set Allow Emerg Iss? to "Y" only for OP and ON. On page 2 set up your Compatible Blood Types and define what Products or Product Groups are compatible (i.e. OP would be comptible for ON for plasma, platelets and red cells). Either the builders do not know of this or the function is not available in Meditech 6.0.
  14. That is very odd Carrie. With my settings I am unable to emergency issue ABO incompatible units. If I try to issue Rh incompatible units I get a warning they do not match but are Product Compatible.
  15. MEDITECH 6.0 1) Blood Type Dictionary - Allow Emergency Issue This prompt determines which compatibility checks are performed during Emergency Issue. It works in conjunction with the Allow Mismatch Override prompt in the Customer Defined Parameters. If you wish to have the system check product compatibility from page 2 of the Blood Type Dictionary when using the Emergency Issue routine, enter Y. If a patient does not have a historical blood type, then any unit can be emergency issued with no warning regardless of the definition of the Allow Emergency Issue prompt. If a patient does have a historical blood type and: Allow Emergency Issue = Y Allow Mismatch Override = Y All blood types can be emergency issued but the blood types will be checked for compatibility based on page two of the Blood Type Dictionary. Depending on compatibility, one of two messages will invoke: "Patient and Unit Blood Types do NOT MATCH, but are Product Compatible, OK?" or "Patient and Unit Blood Types do NOT MATCH, OK?" This action is recorded in the BBK Override Warning Report. If a patient does have a historical blood type and: Allow Emergency Issue = N Allow Mismatch Override = Y All blood types will be checked for compatibility. If the unit is product compatible, the unit can be emergency issued. If the unit is not product compatible it cannot. Two warnings will appear. Patient and Unit Blood Types do NOT MATCH, but are Product Compatible, OK? and "Incompatible blood type".
  16. I recall reading a case of an elderly British lady who imbibed gin and tonic daily developing a positive DAT. Back then the tonic water had higher levels of quinine.

  18. The issue is biological not legal. So no matter what gender you are now if you are male and had risky behavior with another male since 1977 you are deferred. It's a bit of semantics isn't it? Not trying to be too serious about it. It's kind of the wrong question to be asking for deferral anyways. David
  19. I would think if they were having sex with men since 1977 then they would not qualify. David
  20. "If the donor was born male and did not have sex with another male since 1977 and then has gender reassignment surgery and now presents as female who is having sex with males, do they qualify?" gender = social role = female sex = biological = male David So I would believe they would not qualify.
