  1. We’re trying the Leica snowcoat slides as well as the VWR Micro slides superfrost and they seem to be working well
  2. They are mainly interested in the network part so remote differentials can be performed at core labs and patholgists can review cells.
  3. http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/sigma/h3506?lang=en&region=CA http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/hyaluronidase.html
  4. Add up to 1mL of the fluid to approximately 5 mg of Hyaluronidase in an appropriately labeled 12x75 plastic tube. Allow the specimen to mix for 10 minutes to decrease the sample viscosity. If not fluid in 10 minutes, place the sample at 37C for 5 minutes. Mix thoroughly by gentle inversion. CAUTION: If the fluid does not become liquid after treatment with Hyaluronidase, DO NOT proceed with analysis on the DxH800. Refer to procedure Body Fluid Analysis – Manual and perform a manual cell count on the specimen.

  6. Which version of the Meditech module would it be?
  7. Here’s our ECHO QC process: (at CRH) The WBcorQC samples are loaded, we order a Group and Screen on each then run them on the ECHO. Then the results are transmitted to Meditech (to an open analyzer batch) Meditech auto creates a specimen number for each QC sample transmitted and we review and verify. (We are currently only transmitting the ABORH and Antibody screen QC but no Kell or Rh phenotyping.) If QC fails a “Q” (actually letter Q) is transmitted and we have our QC canned text “LQCV1” attached which we results etc. The QC results are archived to discs with the rest of the ECHO patients results from the ECHO but also the results are in saved Meditech and can be viewed by specimen number under : QC Icon (Module)InquireAt Month end I ensure all exceptions are addressed (which I review weekly anyhow) and I review the Data Review report both of which are currently in the QC module under “Reports”. I can save an electronic copy of the Data Review Report in our “shared drive”. (It is about 350 pages long most months so it is not convenient to print and store.)
  8. Ask Immucor what the unique number is for each QC material and have Meditech fix it. They did it for Chinook Health Region in Alberta.
  9. Define each of the QC materials and then add them to the analyzer type dictionary. Have Meditech fix if the mnemonic is truncating.
  10. Report as NEGATIVE with a comment "Previously detected Anti-[] is not detected at this time." Screen for antigen compatible unit and crossmatch.
  11. We will be getting this analyzer soon. We wish to interface it with Meditech 5.67 and also have a network connection to a reference center.
