cthherbal
We are in the process of transitioning our factor concentrates from Blood Bank to Pharmacy. Do any of your hospitals require a blood consent for factor products, or is it handled like a medication?
Deny Morlino
Like a med here. The entire process is pharmacy based and pharmacy's responsibility.
Townsend
Everything is handled in Pharmacy for us as well. Consent is required only for the products that are derived from human plasma (IVIG, PPF). It is NOT required for recombinate factors such as Novoseven or Advate ( F VIIa, VIII).Stephanie Townsend, MT(ASCP)SBB
David Saikin
Unless you use cryo they are not blood products, rather derivatives. Consent for blood product should not be necessary.

AMcCord
The derivatives come from pharmacy - no blood consent. IVIG also comes from pharmacy but I honestly don't know what kind of consent they use, but I'm betting it's the general treatment consent. Hmmm...good question. Liz0316
We do issue Factors from the BB, but since they are not considered blood products, we do not require a transfuion consent.
Mabel Adams
I see some group is writing up a tissue implant consent form template. I can hardly wait. (NOT!)
