rh positive platelets for rh negative patients?

We have stopped giving RhIg when we have to transfuse Rh positive products. My pathologist was uncomfortable with the volume that has to be given for red cell transfusions and the volume of red cells in the platelet pheresis product is vanishingly small now. We do not use random donor pooled platelets.

We use apheresis platelets and transfuse regardless of Rh type (just because we never have enough and can't get that picky). For women and kids under 18, we try to get Rh neg platelets, and if we can't we "recommend" administration of RhIg.
