adiescast Posted April 19, 2011 Share Posted April 19, 2011 We have stopped giving RhIg when we have to transfuse Rh positive products. My pathologist was uncomfortable with the volume that has to be given for red cell transfusions and the volume of red cells in the platelet pheresis product is vanishingly small now. tbostock Posted April 19, 2011 Share Posted April 19, 2011 We use apheresis platelets and transfuse regardless of Rh type (just because we never have enough and can't get that picky). For women and kids under 18, we try to get Rh neg platelets, and if we can't we "recommend" administration of RhIg. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

khalidm3 Posted April 20, 2011 Share Posted April 20, 2011 Preferably we transfuse similar ABO and Rh, if the patient is female we advise RhIg till child bearing age.
