Has anyone tried running Ortho's 0.8% panel cells in Grifols IgG cards?

No, but I'm already contemplating purchase of Grifols' antibody panel. We currently purchase Immucor 16 & 20 cell 3% panels and dilute to 0.8% for selected cells in addition to Resolve A and B 0.8%.

Don't griffols use a totally different cell:plasma ratio to Ortho though?

I thought Ortho were 50ul:40ul and griffols were 50ul:25ul

Grifols is the same as Ortho (50uL/25uL - at least in the usa), Biorad uses/will use 0.6% cell suspensions but I don't know about the cell/plasma ratio.

Be careful as the diluents used to suspend the cells will be different.  For gel card assays you need a Low Ionic strength diluent.  Diluents often contain potentiators and will have been validated for use in the appropriate card system.  I am not saying they won't work and they probably will however you should perform validation to ensure you don't miss a significant antibody.
