Good morning, friends!

I wanted to see how many of you give Whole Blood to your Trauma and MTP patients.  We are having discussions about it and wanted to see how many places actually use this product in these scenarios.

Thank you as always!

We are a large academic medical center / L1 adult and peds trauma center.

We stock 4 helicopters, at least 4 county EMS units (with more onboarding)  (all 2 Opos WB units each)  We also have an Adult ED refrigerator where we try to keep a minimum of 8 WB along with a few RBC's and Liquid plasma units.  We also stock 2 units O neg WB in our Peds ED refrigerator.

Our Massive Transfusion protocols allow us to transfuse up to 10 O pos WB to anyone >/= 16 years of age.

We have a standing order for WB with our supplier for 40 units per week.

Bet'naSBB - (or any peds trauma center) - Do you use the WB for patients under 16 years as well?  Is there a minimum age or weight requirement and/or a different limit to # of LTOWB units used for these ped patients?

We will be participating in the MATC-II trial next year (LTOWB and TXA use in pediatric trauma) - hoping these questions are answered in the next few years so we have best practice for ped patients as well as adults!!!
