When a syringe aliquot is created it goes through a filter. When the product is being given on the floor does it have to go through an additional filter in the blood administration tubing or can it go though tubing without a filter? Thanks

We always sent our out with a filter set because that's what we had.  As far as being required, I don't know.

We filter our syringe blood. We labor the syringe as such. I'm pretty confident the RNs don't refilter again.

We filter the blood for them when making the aliquot, further filtration is not necessary.

If you filter the syringe the nurse does not need to filter again at transfusion.  Our nurses uses a syringe pump for all transfusion 60cc or less which doesn't allow for a filter set.

If you do not filter at the bedside, how far ahead can the syringe aliquot be made?  Can the syringe aliquot be stored in the refrigerator prior to transfusion?
