Posted December 24, 20195 yr comment_79240 When a syringe aliquot is created it goes through a filter. When the product is being given on the floor does it have to go through an additional filter in the blood administration tubing or can it go though tubing without a filter? Thanks
December 25, 20195 yr comment_79245 We always sent our out with a filter set because that's what we had. As far as being required, I don't know.
December 26, 20195 yr comment_79247 We filter our syringe blood. We labor the syringe as such. I'm pretty confident the RNs don't refilter again.
December 26, 20195 yr comment_79254 We filter the blood for them when making the aliquot, further filtration is not necessary.
December 26, 20195 yr comment_79255 If you filter the syringe the nurse does not need to filter again at transfusion. Our nurses uses a syringe pump for all transfusion 60cc or less which doesn't allow for a filter set.
February 21, 20205 yr comment_79654 If you do not filter at the bedside, how far ahead can the syringe aliquot be made? Can the syringe aliquot be stored in the refrigerator prior to transfusion?
