  1. We are having that issue with VS548.
  2. I am interested in other Blood Bank's policies on giving CVM Negative products to pregnant women. Do you require that a doctor order the CMV- products or do you provide them automaticall if you are aware that the patient is pregnant?
  3. We currently use a 2F degree rise in temperature as an indicator for reporting a transfusion reaction. We are converting to a new computer which uses degrees C. That would mean a 16.6C increase in temperature! That does not seem possible. Any ideas? Thanks.
  4. What an experience! It sounds like you did the best you could. I totally symapthize as my hospital was the "victim" 3 years of a flood that closed us down for 5 months. You never forget....
  5. Dispensing is the last chance to detect an error. Most places do not even allow a non-Med Tech or even a Med Tech student to dispense blood on their own. Be cautious.. What price do you place on a work break?????
  6. I do the same. I totally agree with you webersl. We were recently inspected and didn't have an issue with this.
  7. It was a mess. 600+ poorly trained people trying to do the job of 22. They had it for 3 very long years, then asked us to take it back. It took a while to rebuild the phlebotomy team but we have most of it back now. You will be sorry if you do it in my opinion.
  8. :eyepoppin The other day we had a patient with Anti-e, Anti-C,Anti-Fya, Anti-Jka, Anti-K and a previously detected Anti-S. His hemoglobin was 8.5. When we informed the doctor that we would have to have our Reference Lab do a Nationwide search, he responded by saying we will give him Benedryl and you can give the "least incompatible"! After I caught my breathe, I got our Pathologist to intervene. The blood was here in about 24 hours and they gave it 3 days later. Somedays, I don't think we will ever be understood! What a day! :bonk:
  9. I don't think you can bill for those. It might be called "fraud"!

  11. What does LOINC stand for?
  12. Thanks. I haven't received an answer yet!
  13. We have been using Immucor Complement Control Cells for years and they have always worked, although they are weak reacting. Suddenly, the are not working. I put in a call to the company. Lot #34161. Is anyone else have problems with this lot?
  14. Annually, by a commercial company. We are not an AABB lab anymore.
  15. I hear that Ortho is going to release an updated Provue in 2012.
  16. We are a 235 bed hospital and use less than 6 units a month.
  17. Antibody Screen:86002 SPRCA Crossmatch:86806:wow:
  18. Changing to a new band number if the patient is currently receiving products will cause chaos. I agree with Butlermom. PS Hi to a fellow Hoosier!
  19. It doesn't sound like it is worth it to me!
  20. Sounds great. Does it only work with Meditech LIS?
