I am needing some help setting  up electronic crossmatch in Meditech. I have everything else in place but can not figure out how to prevent EXM in patients who have mixed field reactions. I am wanting to be able to perform the IS serologically as I understand this is needed per CAP and FDA regulations. Has anyone else experience this. We are currently on version 6.08. Thanks in advance!

To prevent Meditech from qualifying a patient for EXM when mixed-field agglutination is detected, then detection of a mixed-field result must be entered into Meditech in some manner. In this way, Meditech can react to that test result using rules, reflexing tests, calculations and interpretations.

Currently, if mixed-field agglutination is detected in the Anti-A, Anti-B, Anti-A,B and/or Anti-D test, how is that mixed-field test result entered into Meditech?

What is your current policy for documenting selection of blood for transfusion in Meditech when mixed-field agglutination is detected in ABO/Rh grouping tests?  For example, do you automatically select group O when mixed-field is detected in ABO grouping? Rh negative when mixed-field is detected in Rh grouping?

How is your Crossmatch test configured?

Do you use a Meditech Blood Issue routine in real-time when releasing blood to Nursing, et al?

Hi everyone, new to the group.  Our Blood Bank is upgrading from ProVue to a Vision.  We are also upgrading from Meditech Magic 5.67 to Expanse.  I'm wondering if anyone has that set up?  I'm interested in how the interface is working, are you able to run everything you want and have the results cross over?  Any problems?  Information and advice appreciated!  Thanks!

Trying to get the antigen typings on blood bag units to auto fill into Meditech from the barcode. Any ideas on how to do this?

Hey! Currently when entering a unit of Red cells into Meditech, a Blood bank unit typing is automatically ordered. Any ideas how we can make this specific, so that it only orders it on ONeg and OPos units (instead of every unit)?

Good Morning and Happy New Year to Everyone,
I am just inquiring to find out if anyone has any experience with the Meditech Ambulatory System?  We are using it and would like to share ideas and experiences.  I appreciate the help.
      Thanks,

We are doing our first CAP J survey with electronic crossmatching.  I have a question about the second type and type on the units.  The spaces show a place for forward and backward type on both the specimens and units.  We only perform a forward type on our second type and units.  Does anyone else do it this way?  Will CAP mark us down if we don't fill in the other places?
I also have to work with IT to let us add products to our proficiency samples, since they are entered differently, under proficiency samples.  Or is that treating PT samples differently than patients??
      Thanks!
