SOP for Modified Gel Panel for Passive D

Does anyone have a procedure for doing a modified gel panel for Passive D? I am trying to write a procedure for this, but am not really sure how to approach it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I looked in the documents section but didn't see one that had been uploaded. Thanks.

I would think that all you need to is to include an r'r (for the C antigen), and r"r (for the E antigen) and a few rr cells to cover all the other major antigens. That is what we do.

Ortho Panel A has specified cell for such a "mini panel." The cells are marked with "@" and on the back of the panel sheet is a paragraph about using these in presence of Anti-D.

I didn't realize there was something about the marked cells on the back of the sheet. Thanks for that info, that helps me tremendously.

Be careful though - you can never say for 100% sure that it IS passive anti-D, only that it is PROBABLY passive anti-D

The paragraph with the Ortho A Panel does not say for "passive Anti-D." It states "...know to contain Anti-D." Therefore, this minipanel can be used to check for other alloantibodies in the serum/plasma regardless of the source of the Anti-D.

I always add the statement to repeat 3-4 months after the last dose of RhIg to verify active vs passive sensitization. The OB docs never recheck.
