martha
Can anyone recommend a fast reliable plasma thawer? We perform plasma exchanges and sometimes we thaw 8-12 units at times . I was looking at Helmer Thawer is any one using it? Any comments?Martha

Brenda K Hutson
We have the 4 chamber Helmer Thawer. No complaints here...I have also liked using Thermogenesis, but it requires more work in the up-keep.Brenda Hutson, CLS(ASCP)SBB

krichards
You might also want to look at Thermogenesis. We've been using them for years, and love them.
Karen Olsen
I have used the Thermogenesis for years and absolutely love it. So quick and easy. No wet bags to deal with!!Good Luck!
Joyce Gacek
Check out the Tropitonics ARK Bio Plasma microwave thawer. Two units thaw in 5 minutes. We've had one since January and it would be hard to give it up. No mess - no broken units.Still have a Thermogenesis and liked it better than the Helmer and old Forma thawers, but the microwave beats all! The surgeons have commented on how quick we get thawed plasma to them now!
estiner
I had Thermogenesis and then got a Helmer - Helmer is the best!
nmartin
We use a 10 chamber thawer by Thermogenesis, it works great for our liver transplants when we have to thaw 10 plasma at a time. It takes about 15 minutes
Barb Thompson
We have a 4 unit Helmer; I love it! Thaws 4 units in under 20 minutes.I used to use a microwave, but we had problems with uneven temperature sensing and cooked segments. Also, when a unit broke, the plasma ran all over the counter, and the room smelled bad for days.
Likewine99
Helmer is the way to go, we too perform plasma exchanges and the unit we have will do 8 at a time in about 20 min.
eric1980
I use a 4-unit Helmer water thawer. Very reliable, been using it for many years already. No significant problems. But I am interested in exploring this microwave thawer... Hmm...
