davisco
Do all of you using MTS gel cards and centrifuges perform DAILY tach/timer checks on your centrifuges? We have been doing tach/timer checks quarterly, but apparently they are required daily?
Eagle Eye
I am not sure about that I have to go back and read the procedure. (we do it quarterly).
Likewine99
We used to only do them quarterly and just recently one of the techs discovered in the users manual that is was to be done daily. We check it visually with the first run on the day shift to make sure the readout is 895 +/- 25 and we set a timer for 10 min when we start the first run. tbostock
We go with the regulation, which is quarterly. We do not have this in our user's manual, but we started gel about 10 years ago. We have no intention of changing to daily checks.
davisco
Thanks for your replies...We were given a Phase II by CAP for not doing them daily. However, in the manual, it is recommended that you ensure the RPMs are correct and your timer counts down as part of daily QC. It does not say you need to do a tach and timer check, just a visual. Just a warning that you may want to document this visual check somewhere if you are not already.
David Saikin
You only need to document adequate rpm's and timer count down daily - not do tachs and timing.
AMcCord
We document RPM readout and clock countdown daily. Tach and timer check is done only quarterly.
