Posted January 18, 20232 yr comment_84820 As I contemplate retiring in a few years, I would love advice about how to stay mentally stimulated after leaving the field. I have loved medicine since I was 5 years old and suspect that I will miss it after retirement.
January 18, 20232 yr comment_84823 I am still a member of the aabb, the ISBT and the BBTS, and so receive all of their journals, AND also get the American Red Cross's Immunohematology journal. I LOVE reading through them. I also still lecture a bit and, of course, am on here. This all keeps me mentally stimulated.

Moving seems to be very common after retirement, but It would be tough to leave Bend. Beautiful city and environs. I suggest fly fishing, but I'm biased. Lots of opportunities where you live, some of the more famous waters. Lots of mental stimulation, too (although not medical), with a heavy dose of Zen.
