Ortho Fetalscreen kit and weak control

Has anyone else had troubles lately with weak pos controls with the Ortho Fetalscreen kit? The last lot almost wouldn't come positive. We did test it with a homegrown control and the test worked fine so I think it is more likely the conrol cells themselves than the antibody reagent or the indicator cells or even the process. Still, doesn't make us very comfortable.

I found that to be true with the trial kits.

The positive control did not work with one of the trial kit lot received.

The insert says you can spin for up to 45" on the final spin. That has been working for us.

We had the exact same issue and went back to the product insert and found the centrifuge time to be from 15 to 45 seconds. Of course staff automatically spun at 15 seconds as that is what most other tube testing requires. We moved it up to the 45 seconds and I have not heard any issues for the last month.

Even after the 45 sec spin I was not thrilled with the positive result compared to the Immucor kit, so we have decided to stay with Immucor.

I am hearing complaints right now but I am not sure if everyone has been doing the 45 second spin. We don't have a choice for Immucor as we have a corporate contract with Ortho.
