CAP - Alternate assessment for Cold Agg Screen/Titer

Recommended Posts

You can send it to another institution and compare your results (you should have criteria for acceptability such as " a difference in titer of ***"). You should call CAP and ask them; they should tell you what you need to have - that is the best way to make certain you satisfy their standard. Maybe you should think of running the Mpneumonia latex test (if they still make it).

Hi Malcolm

CAP requires that you perform assessments/surveys for all things that you test for (in the USA). They (CAP) provide many surveys for many analytes BUT they do not provide for all. it is incumbent on the testing institution to document that they maintain competence. These used to be educational in nature but NOW Medicare reimbursement is tied to acceptable performance.

Test group O red cells with the patient's plasma at strictly 30oC by direct agglutination.

No reaction - no clinically significant "cold" auto-antibodies.
