We apply a HemoTemp II indicator to each unit that is irreversible above 10 degrees C. David Saikin Posted October 15, 2009 Share Posted October 15, 2009 You should have validated your coolers to maintain appropriate temperature for some designated period of time. L106 Posted October 15, 2009 Share Posted October 15, 2009 cell 1 -I suggest that you do a "Quick Search" (top lefthand corner of this screen) for "Coolers." There are quite a few threads on the topic, and it seems to be the consensus that blood issued to Surgery is considered by most accrediting agencies to be "storage" (not "transport"). For "storage", the blood in the coolers should be maintained within 1-6 C (not 1-10 C.)There are also many discussions in the various threads regarding validation of the coolers, as David Saikin mentioned above.
