DIANITA Posted August 26, 2009 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Any help with these new questions regarding therapeutic phlebotomies would greatly be appreciated. We are hospital based transfusion service who perform TP's on inpatients and discard the unit. Our Medical Director oversees the program. It seems CAP is now wanting a plan, goals and indications. Eagle Eye Posted August 29, 2009 Share Posted August 29, 2009 I believe as long as the physician writes an order and monitor the patient (atleast over 12 month) for effectiveness, we will be OK;.In other word if order is written for one procedure every three week and the goal is to keep Hgb <15...and if you meet your goal by doing three procedure...you are OK..and if you monitor and see if the Hgb is still high and add one more procedure...it will be OK.
