  1. Yes, they do the crossmatching at the Reference Lab, but defer to the hospitals. Because they do that, I feel that we must repeat it.
  2. We were not successful using the prewamed technique in a gel card. I think it is because of the 10 minute spin at room temp. Wish it did work.
  3. :rolleyes:Not all reference labs in the US take the respnsibility for the crossmatch. They feel it is the hospital's decision to call it compatible or incompatible.
  4. We did not relabel them when we converted. It didn't take long to use them up.
  5. Why do you have different protocols for ED and OR?
  6. :bonk:I agree. We dropped AABB about 10 yearsago. CAP, FDA,JCAHO, State Board of Health ought to be enough to cope with.
  7. Practice till you get it right!!!!!!!!!!
  8. On 24/7. No problems. You never know when you will need it.
  9. Last night, we had a hospitalist request that we do an exchange transfusion on an adult sickle cell patient. Fortunately they transferred the patient to a larger hospital. We do not have any aphersis equipment. I have very little knowledge about this procedure. Can any of you explain how it is done? Thanks.
  10. :pI sometimes reply to things like that by saying "the mind readers called in sick today".
  11. :rolleyes:Oh-- I thought that docs only got three days training!
  12. Does the pathologist review them 24/7 even if the work up was negative?
  13. :eek:I hope your charge an after hours fee! Our reference lab cahrges an extra $750 for nights, weekends and holidays.
  14. So you voted for crossmatch compatible for Anti-M and N, but would not do it for anti-Lea? Correct?
  15. Do you give antigen negative blood or crossmatch compatible blood for patients with anti-M, N, Lea?
  16. What do you use for a "super stat" ABO&Rh like a trauma? Tube is faster.
  17. :fingerscrWe cannot scan the product code. It has to be entered from the drop down list. We are on 2005.02.78 but are upgrading to 2007.19 soon. Since you have no problems on 2007.08 we shouldn't either after the upgrade. Thanks for the info.
  18. The package insert only suggests testing with weak antibodies.
  19. They say that scanning problem is supposed to be fixed on the next upgrade.
  20. :bonk:That certainly defeats the purpose of "bedside ID"!
  21. :work:We have used Lexmark Forms Printer 2500 Series since 1988. They are fairly good.
