  1. The BloodTrack system is available in the States from Mediware as the BloodSafe product line. More information is available on the Mediware website.
  2. John, the system you are referring to is the system Mediware is selling in the States as BloodSafe. You can get more information on the Mediware website.
  3. Have you looked at the secure remote blood storage refrigerator options offered by Mediware?
  4. It is my understanding that EPIC does not have and does not plan to develop an FDA cleared blood bank (transfusion management) system. Since the functionality you are describing would be considered an extension of the blood bank (transfusion management) system it is my understanding this functionality would require FDA clearance.
  5. Mediware (www.mediware.com) has secure remote blood storage refrigerators installed at several locations across the country.
  6. I have heard Cerner is offering Wyndgate to Cerner Classic transfusion customers whey they decide not to move to Millenium. I know Cerner killed off their Millenium donor system and went with Wyndgate donor. Anyone have any additional information on the future of Cerner Millenium transfusion?
  7. I would like to hear from those that attended the meeting in New Orleans. Was it a successful meeting? Any sessions of great interest or importance? Did you see anything in the exhibit hall of interest or that provided a needed solution?
  8. The Neoteric products are available in the United States from Mediware Information Systems under the product name of BloodSafe.
  9. 10. I agree with John and jhession that complicating the process by having multiple armbands does not make the process safer. Point-of-Care patient identification is not an issue that is unique to the blood bank. The need for Positive Patient Identification extends to all areas of patient care such as medication administration for pharmacy, specimen collection for core laboratory even to patient identification for milk feedings in the NICU. A single hospital wide barcoded armband with multiple patient identifiers combined with a point-of-care solution using the barcoded information to identify the patient, label specimen and match the patient to the medication, blood, milk or other products being administered is the safest solution.
  11. Shelley, Have you taken a look at the point-of-care, positive patient identification and transfusion documentation system available from Mediware? This systems uses 2D barcode technology to identify the patient based on five pieces of information and then prints the specimen label at the bedside. When a transfusion is needed the system uses the same technology to positively identify the patient, match the patient to the unit of blood and then allows the caregiver to enter the transfusion documentation all at the point-of-care.
  12. Is anyone live on El Dorado? I believe this product just received FDA clearance earlier this year.
  13. Mediware has a solution you may want to take a look at. It is called BloodSafe™ and is a 510(K) cleared system for remote storage and management of blood. BloodSafe is equivalent to a “Pyxis†system for blood management. BloodSafe’s remote release refrigerator management provides a controlled environment that is monitored from the blood bank making blood products quickly and safely available throughout the hospital or at remote locations.
  14. Never heard of it… I didn’t know Eclipsys had a blood bank system.
  15. The number of live HCLL facilities is approaching 200 locations. Please be leery of messages posted by “korchek†as I believe this individual is a disgruntled former Mediware employee.
  16. John, Are you looking to use a wireless barcode scanner in the blood bank or are you looking for a point-of-care (patient bedside) system? Regards, BB001
