There's an AP for that?

We had a patient in severe DIC, who was transfused with 7 RBCs, 8 FFP, 2 platelet pheresis and 2 pooled cryo (5 per pol).

i never give cryo, and surprisingly the physician ordered 1 unit per10 kg body weight, based on 100 kg patient. I was impressed that he got it right. When I discussed the case with the Pathologist she told me that "there is an AP for that" that the docs are ordering meds with dosage obtained from iPhone APs.

has anyone else heard of this?

I heard that FDA is trying to get a lot of medical app developers to realize they have to go through 510k clearance. They decided not to require it of apps for patients that, say, just log glucoses but don't make medical decisions.

Ortho put out a new 'pocket blood banker app'. It's got some different blood groups and runs you through the patients probable Rh genotype based on phenotype. It's definately not the technical manual (lol :)), but it's a neat little app that's free.
