mpmiola
Anti-LW can be exacerbated when tested with enzymatic panel? Edited November 20, 2012 by mpmiola
Malcolm Needs ☆
Yes. The LW antigens are resistant to the action of papain and ficin (amongst other enzymes) and, indeed, the reaction may be enhanced. Edited November 20, 2012 by Malcolm Needs Spelling - again! mpmiola
Dear Malcolm, thanks for the help, you can tell me a reference for study?
Malcolm Needs ☆
Reid ME, Lomas-Francis C, Olsson ML. The Blood Group Antigen FactsBook. 3rd edition 2012. Elsevier. pages 467-476 (fantastic book)! There are others as well, like Geoff Daniels "Human Blood Groups", 2nd edition, but his third edition is due out fairly soon (April next year, I think), so, if you are going to buy a book, I'd wait for that. Malcolm Needs ☆
Incidentally, the LW antigen is strongly expressed on cord red blood cells, even if they are D Negative, which may also be a way of telling the difference between an anti-LW and an anti-D.
