Cooler Validation Identification

Just wondering how folks know when they last validated their coolers. Do you put some kind of identification actually on the cooler stating when it was last validated and by whom? I know it isn't necessary for any standards, but it seems like it'd be a nice thing to know. What kind of process do you have in place for knowing when a certain cooler is due to be validated (if you have a lot of them)? Thanks

Each of our coolers has an ID # on it. The validation records contain the Cooler ID # and the date of their validation testing. The records are maintained in our BB QC Records. We test our cooler during the very cold weather and the very hot weather, so it's easy to remember. (Or, you could just look up the validation records to check if they are due for revalidation.)

We have a floder for each piece of equipment. Additionally they have stickers on them stating when validated and when next routine service and thus validation following this is due. Additionally, we have a wall calendar with due dates for what equipment listed, so staff can see at a glance when it is coming up. We set this in collaboration with suppliers / testing companies at the beginning of each year and have a contract for all that stating dates specifically. A big job each Dec / Jan, but well worth the effort as all is coordinated.

Cheers

We have always kept validation records, with each cooler labeled with a simple code (A, B ,C, for OR and trauma 1, trauma 2, etc.) that is repeated on the log sheets.

We had a recent FDA inspector that recommended we do this with all coolers, even the ones used to send between labs at off-sites. I beleive we check them once a year.
