My understanding is the the blood bank / transfusion service is the only department where the medical director is also the technical supervisor and there for is the only one who can sign the proficiency testing. At least that's the way it was in my previous life.

Hi Quint,

I'm working as a bench tech in a rural health care district clinic in western Wyoming doing waived and moderately complex testing. Quite a step back from transfusion supervisor in a 350 bed hospital with a level II trauma center, NICU and open heart surgery. My toughest decision these days is whether to do the urine micro first or the rapid strep that just came in.
