Blood Bank/Lab Booklet for Nursing Staff

Hello Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone would happen to have any sort of booklet or the like of, that I can use as a guide for preparing a presentation for nursing staff. We will be giving inservices to new graduating nurses on the functions of the laboratory and blood bank. I am not sure if this is done by other labs, but I am thinking if I can give the nurses a guide for laboratory functions, such as, specimen collection....basic transfusion services information...that it may help.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

The Circular of information is a good source for info on all the blood products.

There are great resources at www.transfusionontario.org under resource centre - presentations there is "information for nurses". I also make sure med students know about the Bloody Easy link.

There is a document on the AABB Website called Primer of Blood Administration that can be downloaded. It is great information for nurses.
