Saline use when pooling cryoprecipitate

I am curious as to what other facilities are doing, especially since the COI is a bit ambiguous in its wording. How many of you our there are adding sterile saline as an aid to pooling cryo units? We have had a long standing practice of using 50cc's as an adjunct when pooling cryo and I haven't seen any other facility to that. It adds one more item to the documentation on manufacture and increases the cost.

So, do ya'll pool cryo au naturale or do you add saline?

We use 2 mL per unit.

We used 15-20 mL saline to pool cryo. Our cryo units average about 5 mL each, so we really needed a little extra volume to help things along. Our pooling worksheet include a spot to document saline lot# and volume.

We use 50 mL sterile saline that we get from Central Supply. Cost is 35 cents a bag, our computer system has a place in the pooling procedure to record lot numbers.
