FFP24 a misnomer?

Can plasma frozen within 24 hours be called FFP? Anyone who has been converted to this product (whether by your choice or otherwise...) - do you call it FFP24? Did you inform your physicians of the change?

It can't be called FFP. It's Plasma Frozen within 24 hrs of collection. We use the product code PLS24.

We actually call ours FP24, simply removing the "fresh" and just making it frozen plasma. We did send out a memo to our physicians to let them know there would be a change.

Plasma frozen within 24 hours after phlebotomy.......thats one big label(you should see the irradiated one!) We are sending out memos to all hospitals now.

We notified our physicians of the change, and told them any request for FFP would be filled with FFP or FP24. (We don't have any patients in the 'must have FFP' group.)

Also, we have taken to calling the new product "SFP" (Stale Frozen Plasma)... though you could substitute some other antonym of Fresh as you like.

we are calling it FP24 (just our computer code) but we are informing the physician of the change but we are reassuring them that it has enough coag factors in the product.
