Life of Adsorbing cells

Recommended Posts

I am working on a procedure for performing allogeneic adsorptions. We have our own donor center, so have access to donor units to use for the adsorption. I have a question about the "shelf-life" of these units -- how long can the untreated cells be used? Do you use them past their outdate, and if so for how long?

We used absorption cells from American Red Cross reference lab that were actually outdated units that they antigen typed for that purpose. I don't remember how long past their expiration that we used them but I'm pretty sure we used them for at least a month past. It's been a few years since I worked in a facility that did absorptions. Maybe someone who currently does them will have a better idea and post an better answer for you.
