  1. I am curious what other hospitals do for RhIG. Do you require a separate physician order for the injection itself or just give it out due to the result of a positive Fetalscreen or RhIG testing workup?

  3. Where I work, the outpatient bands for platelets are good for 30 days. Provided they are wearing their Blood Bank armband, they can go home and return for platelets within the 30 day timeframe.
  4. Where I used to work we did the same thing but instead of a unit of blood we placed the label on a QC sheet and just irradiated the page itself, and signed off that the lot was acceptable for use.
  5. We also have to report our data to the state annually, who reports the findings on their website. If I recall the rate range was somewhere around 3-4% of total transfusions for 2009. 2010 data is not updated yet.
