mda's Achievements

  1. Welcome to BBT Dennis Agricula, MT(ASCP),SBB
  2. I think this was published in the AABB Website. Please check AABB website. We currently use 5 day old Plasma, we are a Trauma I Facility (Shands at University of Florida). We also use Liquid Plasma (26 day-expiration) for our Trauma patients. Note: There are some plasma products that are only good for 24 hours, please check with your blood supplier.

Since you are using gel method and comfortable with it....go for the ProVue. We currently have 2 ProVues and it really works good for us.
  4. If antibody screen is NEGATIVE: 4 hours for our routine, 2 hours for ASAP and 1 hour for STAT.
  5. Rania, I know that it is required to sickle screen all your donors in saudi arabia. There are some reagents that I know that uses 10 ul of blood only (by STRECK). Please check their website. Hope this will help.
  6. David, did you validate this procedure using the Gel buffered card for anti-C3b, -C3d testing? I know that Immucor complement Check Cells always works using the buffered gel. We tried to parallel test this before and did not worked. Some of our weak reaction in tube, failed to react (5 out of 7) in buffered gel method ( we even try to extend the incubation time at RT).
  7. Yes, we test DAT on cord blood just make sure to wash cells 3-4 times and we never encountered any problem. Any positive reaction (example: 1+, w+) on gel we call it positive. But we flag the patient, to give Rh neg RBC.
  8. We do qc our MTS IgG/C3d cards using any known sensitized donor cells or using commercial check cells.
  9. I don't recall anything like this. But we use DTT to treat the plasma/serum.
  10. We made an agreement with our customers that we will charge them full price on all pooled platelets that are >=3.0 x 10^11 ($400.00) and ($240.00) pooled platelets <3.0 x 10^11. So we have to attach a tag to indicate the platelet count of the pooled platelets.
  11. Yes, we perform platelet titer if we need to. 1. We use tube method. 2. We titer to 1:64 if negative, then it is acceptable. 3. Yes we validate the test. 4. We did validate 30 samples (10 O's, 10 A's and 10 B's) of different blood types. 5. We perform titer on all ABO group except AB's. (example: we can give Group A platelets to B group patient).
  12. I recommend ot use theThermoGenesis (MT-210 Plasma Thawer).
  13. We have 4 units of Thermogenesis (thermoline thawers), it works very good.
