August 5, 201113 yr comment_37781 I just saw the Blood Hound at the AACC. It does digital images of all the WBC's, RBC's and Plts on a CBC. Per the manufacturer, it is capabel of detecting and counting RBC inclusions, including malaria, in RBC's. It looked impressive and is pending FDA approval. Check out their website.
February 17, 20205 yr comment_79626 I saw a Blood Hound prototype 5-10 years ago. I wish the FDA would work faster. I think the technology looks very very hopeful.
March 6, 20205 yr comment_79735 We use a combination of CBC results, Plt count, ICT and DxH NRBC information to prioritise the review of malaria (Giemsa) blood film reviews (Morphologists not available 24/7). The DxH 800 NRBC plot can demonstrate the presence of malaria parasites, with a number of publications available. We have had limited experience (Have very few cases a year), but have found this additional tool useful.
