Workstation specimen racks

Does anyone out there still use the workstation rack that you can not see the bottom of your test tubes, unless you look directly over the tube?

Trying to make an argument to replace these old racks, for some lexan polycarbonate racks.

Gosh no, try to get that replaced! Much less spillage and helps with other workflow as well.

Those old racks sound like a terrible idea!! Our racks are all clear (acrylic??) with a white opaque bottom. (Cost is between $50-$100 per rack and they last forever!)

Also leave less room for error with better visibility of tubes. Less chance to double dose a tube because you could not see into the tube. Easier to sell on the patient safety angle often times.

Unfortunately, we use those as back-up if all our other racks are dirty. I try to keep them clean so I do not have to resort to those racks. Honestly they do not hold the tubes well, and they do not provide an area to place your gel card. The racks we mainly used are white plastic racks with little fingers that stick out.
