Exempted from the consent requirement are factor concentrates, IV serum immune globulin, and albumin because prior heat treatment or pasteurization significantly lessens the risk of infectious complication. tbostock Posted January 27, 2009 Share Posted January 27, 2009 We require informed consent for all blood products and derivatives, including albumin, clotting factors, and RhoGam. It's just easier for us to keep it "all or none". We keep albumin, clotting factors and RhoGam in the Blood Bank. Anything that the Pharmacy keeps (IVIG) does not require consent. We figured it would be too confusing if we make it required for some and not for others.
