Trima accel platelet collection time

Recommended Posts

Hai,

1) Could you please tell me the average platelet collection time using Trima accel?

2) On an average how many platelet collections or donations are possible with Trima accel in a day? ( assuming 8 hours of working)

Thanks

Alex

Alex,

The time depends greatly on the donor's height, weight, platelet count, and procedure. Most of our "singles" take 35 to 50 minutes. "Doubles" and "triples" might take anywhere from 50 minutes to 120 minutes (120 minutes is the max).

Setup and tear-down time between donors is probably around 5-10 minutes.

We currently have 27 machines in our system, and typically collect 50-60 procedures per day (with a split rate over 50%)...but we have had a maximum around 120 procedures in one day.

Are you at a centralised Bood Bank? that is a huge number.
