Hello all, I have frequented this site as a visitor for a while and decided to join. I am a MT at the San Diego Blood Bank (large blood center) and have just taken a new position as a Process Improvement manager. I will be facilitating LEAN events and eventually implement Six Sigma tools for process improvement. I also have a focus on improving customer service.

Since this is my first post I need a little help. What is the best forum to share info about process improvement?

Thanks and looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Angela

Hi Angela! Thanks for the introduction! Congratulations on your new position! The forum for posting process improvement topics would probably be Quality for now. I am looking for to reading your posts about Six Sigma and Lean. I have been incorporating some of the ideas from Lean into my own Blood Bank. (I sneak them in gradually so my staff doesn't rebel;))

Hi Angela,

Congrats on your new position. So nice to see someone I know on this site. My name is Lisa H. and I am the new Blood Bank Supervisor at Alvarado Hospital. Remember me? How are the kids? My daughter is 13 now and in 8th grade.I have not posted a message before, but am very impressed with all of the blood bankers that use this forum to share information. I look forward to hearing from you and all others as I embark on this new journey. After being a generalist for 25 years, it's quite a change reporting to the same dept. each day, not to mention the added responsibility and stress!! Take care.

Hi Angela,

Congratulations on the new position. Process improvement seems to be the hot topic at blood centers. We're undergoing that now too. We have process improvement team (all the managers) in place, 2 dedicated process improvement specialist and are receiving training on Lean and Six Sigma.

Funny how the thought processes have paralleled!

Have fun!
