Do you take temperature of platelets when received from outside blood supplier? Do you take temperature of platelets if they were issued for transfusion but then returned because order cancelled or IV problems or....? What is your acceptable temperature ranges? Current AABB states "Storage 20-24C" and "Transport As close as possible to 20-24C". The "as close as possible" seems a bit ambiguous and confusing as to setting a policy that the techs can follow. Thanks for your input.

Hi everyone!! I hope everyone is doing well! I wanted to get a feel for which systems everyone uses to monitor their temperatures in their labs. Have you had more than one and did you like one over the other? Any recommendations? Thanks everyone! Sara

Those who are using central temperature monitoring(CTM) as their primary method to monitor blood bank storage equipments, I have few questions : 1) Do you still use charts? 2) Do you take daily recording? 3) If you take manual recording, which readings? 4) How do you monitor your CTM? 5) What kind of reports do you print? 6) Do you run into problem where you do not have readings and do not have charts? Thank you in advance.

Has anyone installed a new blood bank refrigerator recently? I know we need to do IQ, OQ, and PQ. Does anyone have plans that they have used successfully that you would be willing to share. Did you perform temperature mapping or have it performed by vendor or third party?
