Can someone explain the use of hypotonic wash in blood bank? Are these hypotonic wash useful for sickle patients only or can be used for any recently tranfused patients? I couldn't find any literature explaining hypotonic wash's principle

We are not worried abut CMV neg even among peds patients unless specifically asked by physicians. The rationale being as mentioned by ChrisW 'leuckreduction' . However, if the donors happen to be SC; we do not process their blood into our inventory due to poor performance of leuckreduction filters among these demographics.

Hello everyone
I have very vague idea regarding the significance of different enhancement medias like liss, peg, albumin, saline. Can anybody mind explaining me the role of these enhancements in antibody identification. I went thru AABB book, but it would really be helpful if I could get insights from different experiences.
