  1. That's right Bmarotto has the exact discription of it. Does your institution uses this application and what is the responses from the nurses. Thanks Minal
  2. Hi Everyone Have any of your institute has implemented transfusion manager. Our institition is going to implement it in a near by future. So does that eliminate having blood bank ID band or not. I would like to know more about this prodct and what every one thinks about it. Thanks Mini Me
  3. Hi We had our procedures online as well as on paper for a long time, but recently we got rid of all of our paper copies of procedures. I love online procedures. Easy to find on the click of the button. Thanks
  4. Hi Grant Thanks for the information. I understand your point for validation, but I got little bit more confused with dosage. What we are trying to do is Validate the new box (New Lot) of RAD-SURE. Should we still have to make sure the amount of radiation too. One more thing was brought to my attention while I was trying to wright a validation protocol that Rad-Sure should consider to be a reagent rather than an euipment. What are your thoughts about this. Thanks
  5. Hi Everyone I need some openions on RAD-SURE irradiation indicator (15 Gy)validation. At my institution we use an expired unit and stick three indicators on the back of the bag, one on top, one on bottom and one in the middle. Photocopy before Irradiation showing the NOT visible. Photocopy the bah after the irradiation showing that the NOT is not visible any more. Is this how everybody else does it ?? Also what are the thought about using the front side of the bag which has Label on it. Would that be valid or not. I was told not to use the front side of the bag to validate the indicators. Is that a regulation. Where can I find more info. Also If someone would like to share their protocol I would appriciate it. Thanks
  6. I work with two different institution and they both require the recheck as JHAIG has stated. Two different draws at two different time on the same patient preferably drawn by two different phlebotomists. It seems like some new regulation that was imposed by regulatory agencies I guess.
  7. Now it makes much more sense. Thanks for your reply. I hope our institution would come up something like this.
  8. I am trying to picture the whole scenario here. So How do you tag the unit, that this pirticular unit is for particular patient. I guess I am little scared, what happens when the patient has more than one component set up on them and the nurse asked for e.g FFP and Lab issued Platelet. Would that be a deviation from SOP. I really like your idea of not having transfusion slip. Also we use EMR and i am sure we can easily find a way to just print transfusion record form from computer and use for Lab record. Thanks
  9. Yes My autocontrol was 2+ positive Thanks for Reply Mini Me
  10. Thanks David for your reply. It turned out to be cold autoantibody. But I was qurious that how would I differentiate between cold and warm autoantibody while I was performing the abtibody ID by Gel system. Also i would be interested to know about PEG autoabsorption too. Thanks Again
  11. Hi all This afternoon we had this patient whose results were hard to absorb for me. Patient's screening cells (ortho 3 cell 0.8%) all positive (2+). so I went ahead and set up panel, all the 11 panel cells were positive (2+) including autocontrol. DAT (Broadspectrum) positive. Eluat all cells Positive we sent this work to refrence lab but was still thinking about it. Any openions on this ?
  12. Hi adiescast How was your experience with the scripts. Did you do the testing or third party did it. Was using or modifying scripts was hard for you. Thanks Mini Me
  13. Hi THintz I just wanted to know how was your experience with online study. I was thinking of applting for one but was affraid. The major problem for me would be finding site for clinical rotation. None of the blood center near me would accept me for just clinical rotation. Would appriciate your reply Thanks
  14. hi Everyone I have worked three different places and they all required to have pickup slips. The pick up slips included 1) Patient's Full Name 2) Medical Record Number 3) Blood Bank Armband Number (unique Identifier) 4) Type of component Requested/ #of product needed 5) Date and time Unit(s) issued 6) Issuing tech's code and receiving Nurse's Code/Initials 7) Unit Number (Component Type) I would be affraid to issue anything on the floor without anyof the information in the lab on a hard copy form to cover any mistakes. I have seen many mistakes like patient has wrong armband number in the LIS then the physical arm band #. There is a possibility of mistake while patient have multiple component allocated to them and nurse orders one product and realises that, that is not what they wanted and lab sends different product for the same patient. At my current job we don't have Pneumatic system so we don't tube components, but i have worked at a place where we use to send products through the tube system but we still received the Pick up slip signed by Either Nurse or physician with all the above listed information Thanks
  15. Hi Everyone if you are thinking about following kind of cooler then the sites to go get them are underneath them, Wal-Mart has same kind of coolers. These coolers does not come with the holder bucket for units. Market Lab has the whole kit you can order from them which comes with two freezer pack ( hard cover gel pack ) and one/two gel packs. http://www.igloo-store.com/category.asp?CAT=iglfindacooler http://www.igloo-store.com/product_list.asp?SKW=iglpk Thanks stay
