Hello everybody. Can you please comment on which TLA is more user friendly, more practicle, efficient, and needs less maintenance for a high volume chemistry lab? Thnx

Can anonyone please comment on the system and the metod they use for the NAT?? we are in the process of implementing NAT and i need advice. Thanks alot.
-
Could anybody please comment on which NAT system has better advantages, more reliable and cost effective over the others?? Thank you for sharing your experiances.
-
Can we stop running serological testing and run only NAT on blood donors or do we have to continue both at the same time. Thank you for your comment.

Hello everyone. Would you please share your experiences about different brands of refrigerated centrifuges for blood components preparation. We are planning to buy a couple of them and looking for the best and heavy duty one. Thank you all.

We have been using Galileo for over 4 years. We had lots of up and down times. Its a good system but i think it's better if you try to look at different technologies and choose the best at this time as David suggested, because the technology is moving so fast and does not stay at one place.Good luck

I was wondering if anyone has used Hettich refrigerated centrifuge for blood components preparation and would like to share their experiances with me. Thank you.

Hello,
Does anyone use the Biotest "D" reagent and if so, have you had any problems with false negative reactions??
Yes, We do have problem with this reagent with false negative, and we have already informed our supplier.

can anybody comment if we can use expired system liquid in galileo and how long post expiry, thanks.
-
we just do the temp heck on each shift.

Thanks a lot Rashmi for ur reply. We do not use our phenotype reagents for a months and we do not leave them on board for a long period. We had this problem at the begining when we introduced Galileo. Immucor support instruct us to keep the reagnt back in the fridge when they are not in use. We did not see the growth after that, but they are back again even though we follow the same instructions. There must be some thing else, don't you think?
-
Has anyone using Galileo noticed growth in the phenotyping reagents? Thank you for leting me know.
-
I definetly agree with you Rashmi.

We use hemocue for many years. The percentage of defferal is very little.(1-2%) only.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to make sure when calculating the percentage of out dated blood and blood products as QC indicator, Are you calculating the percentage from the total collection or total product preparation? Which one is the correct one? Thank you all.

HI everybody. I was wondering if you perform only DAT poly procedure and if positive perform monospecific procedure, or you perform both procedures side by side and for all cases. Thank you all.
-
I am also looking for a centrifuge for component separation which has less noise and though good one. Can somebody recommend one? Thanks

We are using them for almost 3 years now and all have no problem with reading it. It is exactly as David said. We use them also for transport of blood.
-
We have both Jewette and Forma Scientific. Our Jewettes are more than 12 years old and we do not have any problem with them. I do not know since they merged to another compay(Thermo) still they have the same quality or not.
-
we place a temperature monitor on each unit which shows the temprature during transportation at an arrival.
-
Go for Helmer. We have one of them, it is one the best.

Yes. There is a site called MCN Healthcare. Visit this site homepage and look under policy and procedure. then look under clinical laboratory procedres. You will find blood bank policies and procedure. Unfortunately it is not free. You can buy the whole pkage. Hope this help.
1) I'm simply curious if it is an acceptable practice to save patients' plasma with a known Antibody to SCREEN for antigen negative units, then confirm (Test of Record) the antigen typing with our commercially purchased antiserum? If this an acceptable practice, how do we verify and control the screening plasma for use? I was thinking of running two positives and one negative qc with each run. The positives would be one heterzygous cell and one homozygous cell, where the graded results must be at least a 2+. Then my next question is how long is would this screening plasma be good for? I was thinking 2 months, or until the qc is not valid, which ever comes first. Any help with this process would be greatly appreciated. Any procedures that I could use as references, would also be greatly appreciated. This idea has cost saving benefits, but I'm just not sure how to implement it properly.2) Is there a web site (bloodbanktalk.com or elsewhere) that Blood Banker can swap and share policies and procedures? I'm always looking for references, to help write policies or procedures.
thanks for everyones willingness to share!!! Have a GREAT DAY!
