Meditech sites with TANGO and ABO discrepant results crossing

We are validating Meditech 5.6.6 LIS and cannot get reaction results on the TANGO with, for example, an ABO discrepancy, to cross the interface after validation. Have made the ABO result "blank". We have decided not to let the TANGO ABO/Rh interpretation cross the interface, just the reaction results. This problem actually does not let the antibody screen results cross either.

It appears that results have to be "normal" to cross the interface.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Susan

It's a Tango issue, not a Meditech issue. You have to resolve the type and interpretation on the Tango before you export it to the LIS. You either have to "fix" the interpretation on the Tango first, or inactivate the blood type if you just want the antibody screen to export.

Thanks. (1) I understand that the TANGO cannot interpret the results of a patient (example A2 patient with anti-A1). (2) as you are stating, we cannot enter a "blank" as the ABO interpretation in TANGO results area but have to manually enter "some" interpretation??

If we "invalidate" the ABO/Rh results, there is nothing that can be exported to Meditech---other than doing a print screen of the original results and having the techs manually enter the TANGO results. Then follow-up testing would be performed at the bench.

Correct; that's exactly how we handle it.  Print the results and have a tech enter it.  Our policy here for any result transcribed into the computer is to have a second tech (either simultaneously or immediately after result is filed) check the paper record against the result in the LIS for accuracy.  The second tech has to initial the paper report as well.
