ISBT codes on Reconstituted RBC

We use only O red cells and AB plasma. Your E code choice will be dependent on the anticoagulant in your red cell base, whether the red cells are irradiated, leukoreduced, or both, whether they are obtained by apheresis, whether you remove any supernatent before you add the plasma (we do), whether the system is open or closed, etc. If you call up the database provided on the ICCBBA website and do a find looking for "plasma added" in a ny part of the field, you can peruse the choices and pick the one that is right for your application.
