See the Glossary in the BB/TS Standards: "Derivatives: Sterile solutions of a specific protein(s) derived from blood or by recombinant technology (eg, albumin, plasma protein fraction, immune globulin, and factor concentrates)."The retention period for AABB for derivatives is 10 years (5.18.2.1 and 6.2E). In the interim I have also checked with the CAP (College of American Pathology) and they OK'd that type of process too! We do it the same.
