Transporting staff to mobile drives

I am interested in learning how others handle transporting staff to mobile drives. Do you provide a van? Do you pay portal to portal if they ride in a van? Are all staff required to use the van or can they meet the drive? If they meet do you pay for their mileage? If the staff are unionized, how does that impact this process?

My small staff (usually 4 in all) would ride together in the bus . . . they prepared for the drive and went together. If they decided to take their own vehicle, for whatever reason, I did not reimburse.

Here at our blood collection facility we provide transportation for our collection staff with passenger vans for inside set-ups or the staff ride in the mobile buses.

Our policies for reimbursement for mileage are pretty strict. Basically if it is the stafff member's choice to not ride in the van or bus then no mileage is paid.
