  1. So you allow these to be eligible for electronic crossmatch?
  2. I'm curious what keyword you're using on your label for the antibodies to appear. The way I'm doing it is to set a marker called AbHx on anyone with an antibody just to let staff know they have to look a little deeper. The keyword I use is to make the marker appear on the label.

  5. Of course not! What was I thinking?!?
  6. First I have to get the pathologist to let us start using electronic crossmatch! I validated it and have been collecting info on how many specimens could qualify. It's a bit ridiculous because about 95% would. I'll definitely hound meditech about it when we go live. It seems like an easy and intuitive thing . . . maybe even they can grasp it.
  7. One antibody panel? I had wondered if Ortho reagents would work on it. I don't see why not, but then business doesn't like to make life easy for customers so I doubt it. I've emailed Grifols for info and contacted Meditech about whether they've interfaced one. They haven't so far. I just wondered if it would transmit crossmatches across the interface. I find it very frustrating that the Provue interface with meditech doesn't. i never heard a reason why it doesn't. The Grifols cards look interesting and it kind of looks like they only use one diluent, but I don't know. Their website is a tad slim on details or I'm looking in the wrong place.
  8. Has anyone migrated from Provue to the Wadiana? I was wondering if they improved the software and interface. I find both of those things on the Provue to be pretty lacking. Of course the Provue is going bye bye as it's replaced by the Vision, but I can't imagine Grifols just slapping their name on it and painting a part of it blue without updating that dated software.
  9. Well they don't let us have any fun do they? So not even on prenatals that aren't meant for compatibility testing?
  10. Anyone out there use a single pooled cell reagent for antibody screening patients? If so, any pros or cons? Thanks.
  11. Hello! For some reason our microbiology department has different prices for organism identification. If a patient has one organism the price is higher than the charge for the second organism. And the second organism charge is higher than the third. They all use the same CPT code. Multiple sensitivities are set up the same way. Is there any reason for this? No one here knows why we have different charges like this. I'd like to simplify charging by making it automatic. Currently because of the different charges they have to manually enter them as they are working up the specimens.
  12. DANSKET, one thing you could do is format a label with all that extra info you like to be on your tickets as an aliquot label. Call the label BBHISTORY or something and it should pop out when your specimen is received in the computer. Just add the aliquot label to all of the tests you want that info on.
  13. If you just need the upload codes you can have the machine send over a result and in the meditech analyzer desktop choose Include Raw Upload Data (under the options tab) to see what the machine is sending over. To see it you press the blue plus beside the result. It'll look like a big mess, but you'll see the result and somewhere there will be the upload code. If it's like the Provue it'll be something simple like A, B, D. If it's like the Vitros 5600 chemistry machine it'll be a number of some kind. I've been able to find upload codes like this for both the provue and 5600. Download codes might be the same as the upload codes. They are on the 5600. Of course we're using meditech 6.0 so things might be different.
  14. I actually have the system validated for electronic crossmatch, but the path is a bit timid. I figure I can go to him in three to six months with immediate spin results and say, "Look, all of these would have electronically released and you'd have saved us tons of effort and time."
  15. Apparently they don't. I recall seeing a picture of them, but maybe they never got off the ground or were discontinued.
  16. It's been years since I've done test tube blood banking and even then I didn't have to do any sort of daily qc. I'm bringing back the option of running a test tube IS xm to speed up add on units and I don't know if there's any sort of QC required for this. It's patient vs donor. Is there anything to QC daily? Thanks, darren
  17. I run the Provue with the polyspecific DAT card. We only run an IgG control on this. I think I want to transition to the card that does IgG and Complement separately. What control cells do everyone use for the anti-complement gel testing? Brands and such, I mean, I know how to run them.
  18. I just this moment had an antibody panel to report out and I can confirm that these are the antibody panel upload codes. PA-1 through PA-11 and PB12 through PB22. AC for autocontrol.
  19. Digging through the meditech website I've found a bunch of download codes (more than listed on the interface page) for the provue, but not the corresponding upload codes. I've attached the download codes as a .doc. I've had to guess at some upload codes. Here are some I use that aren't listed on meditech's site for the provue. IgG only DAT is IgG Polyspc. DAT is IgGC3 Currently I'm guessing that the upload codes for antibody panels are PA-1, PA-2, etc. I don't know if that works yet though. Might try it with a space and not a hyphen. Provue Meditech Download Codes.doc
  20. My thinking is that its no different than a passive vaccine like an antivenin or rabies shots. Pharmacy can handle all of that deftly so I figure RhIg isn't much of a trick. I'll have a SQL report written that will alert me if a doc gives the shot without testing first so that I can make the CEO smack their hand.
  21. I've always had the feeling that the Provue interface was kind of an afterthought. I believe it was a European machine first, maybe from Spain. Ortho probably rushed to get it out and get their money. The software isn't like any other interface I've worked with. It doesn't have any options to automatically check for orders on the bar code. It doesn't bring the patients name over to appear on the Sheet tab (it does bring the patient name over, but it's in the obscure DianaASTM log file. And crossmatch won't cross the interface. I once heard it claimed to a safety issue, but I have no idea why it not crossing an interface would make it safer. I've been tempted to research some coding and build my own a graphic user interface to make it better. I'm sure Ortho and FDA and all the other regulating agencies would frown on that though. you wouldn't technically be altering their software though. Just making an intricate set of macros to operate their software.
  22. Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the upload and download codes for the Provue interface in Meditech? The Meditech website has some of them, but a few years ago I had an old print out from someone's conversation with meditech that had many many more things like the Antibody panels, different DATs, antigens, antibodies. I lost that or someone threw it out along the way somewhere. I've contacted meditech as well, but they're slow to respond.
  23. Howdy all. I'm working on getting RhIg out of the BB and into pharmacy. They're for it, we're for it. I was wondering how it's dispensed at hospitals where the RhIg is kept by pharmacy. We're using Meditech 6.0 and are working on how and who orders the injection. What I'd really like to know is if anyone dispenses it from a pyxis or omnicell. That's what we'd prefer because it would be more convenient for everyone involved.
  24. Does anyone have meditech and interface a Radiometer ABL machine with it? If so, do you get demographics when scanning in the barcode number? This has never worked for us. thanks!
