ProVue & Rh Antigen QC ?

Hey ProVue users!

We just went live last week. We're a pretty busy transfusion service. We currently are doing antigen typing for the main Rh antigens using manual gel, with the intention of moving to the ProVue. However we are looking for the best way to do QC for them on the ProVue. For validation, we used our known method and typed unit segments for E, C, and c, thus finding positive and negative "controls" for the ProVue. This doesn't seem very practical to us for general use; but we do not want to waste a lot of reagent, either.

Does anyone have suggestions, please? Should we stop worrying about it and just throw on an aliquot of Ortho reagent RBCs? This isn't something we do daily, just PRN. Thanks!

We do our antigen typing in manual Gel, but if we did use our ProVue for typing, I would go the easiest route and use reagent RBCs. We use reagent rbc's for qc manually, so it would be easiest for the generalists to keep with the same idea.
