jorlin
Given the possibility of post polio syndrome in adults that suffered from polio as children, should these potential donors be excluded as donors (? virus latency)
L106
If so, somebody better let me know, because I am a polio survivor and have donated about 5 times every year since age 18.I don't think that post-polio syndrome is a result of the latent virus being reactivated. Since the polio virus damaged the nerves that trigger the muscles to work, it takes more effort to make those muscles work. I think the syndrome is a result of our nerves and muscles wearing out from the 30 or 40 years of overexertion.
