  1. A new procedure in the lab allows reading 0.5 degree increments despite the 76 mm immersion thermometer having a resolution of 1 degree. For example, if the mercury level is between the 36 and 37 degree lines, one is allowed to write 36.5 on the record. I have always been under the impression that one can only read according to the resolution of an instrument, i.e., to the nearest whole number if the thermometer does not have a fraction of a degree calibration. I am concerned that this may be an issue during an audit. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  2. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good research project in Immunohematology? I do a lot of red cell and platelet immunology and use tube, gel, and solid phase methods. A flow cytometer is also available. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.
